Antifascist gathering in Madrid against Greece’s Golden Dawn

On November 18th at 11am in the morning, Nick VH, responsible for External Relations of the Greek nazi party Golden Dawn, will be giving a speech at the Hotel Madrid Centro. Golden Dawn is a nazi party that is completely allowed by police and state to act, as they form part of the Greek political system and have won enough seats in elections to be represented at the Parliament, with all that this implies (total impunity and legitimacy to act in any way as well as political and financial support to develop their campaigns, speeches and actions).

One of its members intends to come to Madrid to give a lecture on his party, and from the Madrid antifascist movement, we launch an antifascist alert and call people to go to face them and get them. We won’t allow them to carry out this act in Madrid, or at least not in a normal way. Let’s make it clear that they are not welcome here.

On November 18 at 11 am in front of the Hotel Madrid Centro (Mauricio Legendre street, 16).

Clashes between antifascists and police in Bilbo, one arrested and injured in Barcelona

An antifascist gathering had been called today in Bilbao against the presence of a group of fascists from the Falange party who had arrived from Madrid to protest in the centre of the Basque city coinciding with with the Day of the Hispanity. Police prevented antifascists from gathering, who had previously announced a non-confrontional event, and used batons and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd, which was numbering in hundreds. Clashes then started between antifascists and police, and barricades were erected around the town’s centre. At least 14 antifascists have been arrested. One fascist was arrested too by police, which seized several baseball bats and knuckles from the fascists’ buses.

In Barcelona, 200 antifascists gathered in a nearby square from where right wing militants and fascists were holding a demonstration in favour of the unity of the spanish state and against the right of selfdetermination. After the start of the gathering, a person carrying a Spanish flag tried to get in the middle of the antifascists and police charged against them, injuring one of them. The antifascist was taken to the hospital, where he was arrested by cops. Dozens of people gathered outside the hospital. A small antifascist gathering was organised too in the catalan town of Girona.

Antifascist gathering/demonstration in Barcelona

One more year for the 12th of October*, the extreme right takes the streets around the territory. In the case of Barcelona, apart from the already traditional and allowed fascist gathering in Montjuïc, this year a demonstration has been organised in Catalunya square in defense of the unity of the Spanish state, in which we can find from the parlamentary extreme wing of the PP to fascists organisations such as MCR or PxC among the organisers and supporters.

Although demonstrations this year will obviously be marked by the debate around the selfdetermination of the Catalan people, we cannot forget the true face of these organisations and the role they have always played for the State. Many are the comrades, neighbours, friends who with the economic crisis are being led to precariety, explotation and in many cases, marginalisation. The State wants to use this occasion to try to lead this rage against those same collectives who are suffering the most the cuts, something that allows it to pass with total immunity laws such as the strip of the healthcare card to immigrants. Fascism and racism, and now as well the xenophobic spanish patriotism, have become the three biggest allies of a system that day after day collapses on its own. The fight against fascism is also the fight against the State and capital, and that’s why on the 12th of October we will counterattack once again in the streets.

We send from here all our support to the comrades in Athens who are being persecuted and tortured just for fighting against the fascism of police and Golden Dawn.

FASCISTS OUT OF OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS AND SQUARES
THEY SHALL NOT PASS!

Russian antifascist arrested in Madrid

It has been reported that russian antifascist Pjotr Silajev has been detained in Madrid, here is a report about his current situation:

Russian writer and antifascist Pjotr Silajev is still arrested in Madrid. Silajev had been granted a political asylum in Finland early this year. The Finnish embassy in Madrid has said that Silajev can be kept arrested for 40 days!

The Spanish police arrested Silajev in Granada because of request from Interpol on the 21st of august. Contrary to the expectations, he was not released in a trial in Madrid on the 22nd of august, even though the Finnish embassy had provided all the papers concerning his asylum and right to stay in the country. The court wouldnt comment the case. The Spanish police said that he only had a Russian passport when he was arrested. It is not clear how the Finnish state will react to the arrest.

The Moscow Times interviewed Tanya Lokshina from The Human Rights Watch, who said that the Spanish state does not have to take into concideration the asylum from Finland and are free to send him back to Russia. This does not seem possible. The Finnish YLE news has interviewed the head of the immigration office Esko Repo who said that all the European Union countries are committed to not sending people to countries where they might face prosecution.

The lawyer of Silajev said the situation looks bad.

The Moscow Times said that the hardening line of the Russian government towards protests can lead to even more cases where people need to flee the country. The case of Silajev can be connected to other cases where people who had fled the country have been tried to be sent back.

Silajev was granted asylum from Finland in april of this year. The reason was the continuing political prosecution in Russia. The Russian Federation wants him convicted for demonstrations against a highway in the Khimki region outside Moscow. Among other protests, the house of the city council was attacked and some people throw stones and fireworks in the building in 2010.

The hunt of Silajev seems to be the last resort for the prosecutor to convict someone from the Khimki protests. Last year Aleksey Gaskarov, who was arrested for months, was releassed of all charges and Maxim Solopov received a two year sentence for hooliganism. The third suspect Denis Solopov has received an asylum from the Netherlands.

The Moscow Times have said that the mayor of Khimki Vladimir Strelchenko resigned last week because of pressure from the new governor of Moscow. Strelchenko is suspected of organising attacks against the protesters who were resisting the building of the highway.

We are asking for solidarity from our comrades in Madrid and other parts of the Spanish state! Support our anarchist and antifascist comrade!

Spread the word!

Demonstration to remember Roger Albert, killed by neonazis in Barcelona in 2004

On August 15, 2004 our friend and comrade Roger was stabbed in the neck while he was defending his neighbourhood from a group of neonazis who had freely gone that afternoon around the neighbourhood assaulting many neighbours. Four months later, Roger died after waking up from a coma and fighting like a lion for his life. From him we keep his strength, his creativity, and of course, his determination.

THE REST IS JUST ANGER, ANGER, ANGER!

Demonstration – Wednesday 15th of August at 19:00 in Metro Fontana
